Grandma’s flatbread

A simple recipe, with a journey behind it.

Every family has a recipe that needs no introduction. A little flour, a warm pan, and the memory of someone showing you how it is done.

Recipe

Serves 4 · 30 minutes

  • Plain flour250 g
  • Warm water150 ml
  • Olive oil1 tbsp
  • Salt½ tsp
  1. Mix the flour and salt. Add the water and olive oil, then bring together into a soft dough.
  2. Knead for 5 minutes until smooth. Cover and rest for 15 minutes.
  3. Divide into 4 equal pieces and roll each into a thin round on a lightly floured surface.
  4. Heat a dry frying pan over medium-high heat. Cook each flatbread for 1–2 minutes per side, until golden in spots. Serve warm.
